THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Thomasville police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday that sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.

At 10:25 am, Thomasville officers responded to NC 109 south of Commercial Park Drive when they were told about a crash involving four motor vehicles, according to a Thomasville Police Department news release.

A Ford Fiesta, driven by a 65-year-old Thomasville man, was south on NC 109 when he tried to pass four other vehicles in a no-passing zone.

When he tried to get back in the regular lane, he hit the front driver’s side of a Subaru that was going north on NC 109 then side-swiped a Toyota Corolla that was going south on NC 109.

The collision between the Thomasville man’s car and the Subaru caused a head-on crash with a Nissan Armada that was going south.

First responders arrived to find the Subaru fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Subaru, a 54-year-old Denton woman, and the passenger, a 45-year-old Denton man, were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Nissan Armada, a 24-year-old Thomasville man, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 72-year-old Lexington man, was not hurt.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta was also not hurt.

    The investigation is ongoing.
