    This North Carolina town is ranked fastest-growing suburb in the U.S., study says

    IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A new study has ranked a Lake Norman area town as the fastest-growing suburb in the United States with home values under $500,000.

    According to GOBankingRates , Mooresville, North Carolina, takes the No. 1 spot as the fastest-growing suburb in America with a July 2024 home value of $480,430 and nearly 30% growth in population. The website reports the NC town had a population of 38,498 in 2020.

    Growth reportedly skyrocketed to 50,025 in 2022, the personal finance website stated.

    Other North Carolina municipalities that made the top 50 list were Concord, North Carolina at No. 30, with a July 2024 home value of $383,893, growing in population from 2020 to 2022 by nearly 12%, and Clayton, North Carolina at No. 15, with a July 2024 home value of $372,523.

    GOBankingRates reports Clayton went from a population of 23,179 in 2020 to 26,837 in 2022. That’s a nearly 16% change in the total population in two years.
