RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Wake Forest police arrested a mother and father after their infant was found with broken bones.

Arrest records show 21-year-old Ashley Martin and 27-year-old Da’Shane Ellison, both of Virginia, are charged with felony intentional child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Warrants show their 4-week-old son was found with a broken humerus bone, broken ribs, broken toes, fractured tibia, and fluid in the brain.

A spokesperson with the Town of Wake Forest said police were alerted that the child was being treated for serious injuries at a local hospital. An investigation revealed the injuries were sustained at an address along the 200 block of North Allen Road in Wake Forest.

Martin and Ellison were each given a $500,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
