RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A prison escapee from New Jersey is in custody after a chase across Randolph and Davidson County on Monday.

On Monday, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Team tried to pull over a vehicle for “minor traffic violations” on Interstate 85 and a chase began.

Body found inside Food Lion freezer in North Carolina

The chase eventually led the pursuing deputies into Davidson County at which point the driver is alleged to have hit another car in its path while “driving erratically.”

Deputies say the suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop and a passenger in the vehicle got out to run away on foot. A short chase began and he was arrested. The suspect vehicle attempted to leave the scene at this time before the driver was also arrested.

The suspect vehicle was searched and marijuana was found. Investigators also discovered that the passenger, 24-year-old James Alvin Bradley, was wanted out of New Jersey for escaping from the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

The driver, 26-year-old Olrick Omar Robinson, was taken to the detention center and charged with felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, driving while license revoked, speeding in excess of 65 mph and improper passing on right.

Robinson was given a $10,000 secured bond and will appear in court on Monday.

Bradley was taken to the detention center under no bond allowed and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey on the fugitive order.
