You’ll notice cloudier skies as you peek out the window today, but umbrellas won’t be needed for now.

It’s going to be a comfortable day, despite the cloudier weather, as highs reach the upper-70’s.

Skies remain overcast tonight with lows in the mid-60s.

Light, spotty showers will start to pop up in the forecast Friday afternoon and continue through the weekend.

These showers will be few and far between and will bring very little rain to area rain gauges through Sunday night, likely less than 1/2″.

Temperatures will hold steadily in the mid-70s.

An area of low pressure is going to drift along the southeastern U.S. coast, then turn westward, toward the NC coast next week.

While this won’t be a tropical system, we are expecting substantial amounts of rain (4″ to 5″) over the southern NC beaches.

Inland, we will also have steady showers Monday through Wednesday, bringing 1″ to 2″ of rain to the Piedmont.  Temperatures are going to continue hovering in the mid-70s.
