    Officer shot ‘multiple times’, seriously injured after North Carolina traffic stop

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in south Charlotte.

    Officers were called to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 8900 block of E. Arrowood Road.

    Preliminary information indicated that officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a possible suspect vehicle when the suspect produced a handgun and exchanged gunfire with police.

    CMPD confirms that one officer and a suspect were struck by gunfire. During a press conference, officials said the officer was shot multiple times and has very serious injuries.

    Both were transported to the hospital for their injuries. Another officer involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

    Officials say a firearm was recovered from the scene.

    I like the way they leave out if the gun was legally possessed ! But we will probably need a new gun law for legal gun owners now !
