    Man killed in police chase after hitting tree in South Carolina

    HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A man died in a single-vehicle Loris-area crash Monday morning after his vehicle rolled over and hit a tree while he was trying to evade police, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

    Martin McFeely, 38, of Loris, died in the crash, the Horry County Coroner’s Office said late Monday night. He was driving at 6:34 a.m. on Daisy Road near Tansy Road, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler. It happened about 5.1 miles east of Loris.

    McFeely was traveling west on Daisy Road in a 2008 Mercury Sedan when his vehicle went off the left side of the road, rolled over multiple times and hit a tree, according to Butler.

    No information about the reason for the pursuit was immediately available. Horry County Fire Rescue responded at about 6:50 a.m. Horry County police are investigating.
