PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who is serving a life sentence for a murder he committed in Forsyth County is set to be released later this year, according to the State of North Carolina Post Release Supervision & Parole Commission.

64-year-old Charles Lee Lemmons was convicted in 1990 for first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and first-degree larceny in the Dec. 26, 1988 murder of 26-year-old Bobby Douglas Winn Jr.

North Carolina convicted killer denied parole from 1978 murder

The News & Record reports that Winn “was shot once and stabbed 23 times in the neck, chest and stomach.”

Lemmons was charged with the murder alongside another man 68-year-old Ronnie Dean Barnes who remains imprisoned on a life sentence in the Davidson Correctional Center in Lexington.

Lemmons, currently imprisoned in Wilkes County, was approved for parole via the Mutal Agreement Parole Program.

The Parole Commission describes MAPP as “a scholastic and vocational program that is a three-way agreement between the Commission, the Division of Prisons, and the offender.”

Under that agreement, Lemmons is scheduled to be released from prison on Nov. 4, 2024.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction , Lemmons has committed 10 infractions since being imprisoned. However, his last listed infraction occurred in 2002.

Guess they going to let him out so he can do it again anyone who kill someone should not be on the street they should stay in prison. So they can be watched and make sure that they do nothing else to hurt someone I wonder how North Carolina feels for the family of the person who was killed.
