    Which North Carolina counties are eligible for FEMA disaster assistance after Helene?

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — North Carolinians across 25 counties who had uninsured damages or losses caused by Hurricane Helene may be eligible for FEMA disaster assistance.

    There are several ways to apply

    1. Go online to DisasterAssistance.gov
    2. Use the FEMA app
    3. Call 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET daily

    What you’ll need to apply:

    • A current phone number
    • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address of where you are now
    • Your social security number
    • A general list of damages and losses
    • Banking information if you choose direct deposit
    • If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name

    Homeowners and renters in the following counties are eligible to apply :

    • Alexander County
    • Alleghany County
    • Ashe County
    • Avery County
    • Buncombe County
    • Burke County
    • Caldwell County
    • Catawba County
    • Clay County
    • Cleveland County
    • Gaston County
    • Haywood County
    • Henderson County
    • Jackson County
    • Lincoln County
    • Macon County
    • Madison County
    • McDowell County
    • Mitchell County
    • Polk County
    • Rutherford County
    • Transylvania County
    • Watauga County
    • Wilkes County
    • Yancey County
    • Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians
