(WJW) – The oldest daughter of convicted abuser Ruby Franke is speaking out against a new Lifetime movie about her family.

Shari Franke, 21, took to Instagram on October 4 after watching the trailer for Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story.

According to PEOPLE , Shari said on her Instagram Stories, “I saw the trailer suddenly in class and had an anxiety attack. None of us were contacted about the movie. None of the proceeds are going to the kids. This movie is trash, and only hurts my siblings more. Please do not support this movie.”

Emilie Ullerup stars in the new movies as Ruby , 42, alongside Heather Locklear who portrays her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt.

Ruby and Hildebrandt were both charged in September of 2023 for child abuse after Ruby ’s 12-year-old son escaped from Hildebrandt’s home in Utah and went to a neighboring home asking for food and water.

The neighbor called 911, saying the boy had tape on his ankles and wrists and had “deep lacerations from being tied up with rope.” Franke’s 10-year-old daughter was also found at Hildebrandt’s house, court records said.

Ruby pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse in December of 2023. She and Hildebrandt were sentenced to four to 60 years in prison on February 20.

After her mother’s arrest in Sept. 2023, Shari took to Instagram stories to say, “Today has been a big day. Me and my family are so glad justice is being served. We’ve been trying to tell the police and CPS for years about this, and so glad they finally decided to step up,” according to PEOPLE .

About one month later, Shari posted photos on Instagram with the caption, “There’s literally not even words to describe how upside down my life has become. I’ve cried, had an infinite number of panic attacks, had way too much ice cream, and yet life goes on. Therapy has literally saved me, but God has too. My life is somehow becoming more beautiful and fulfilling, despite all the terrible things going on. I’ve tried to live my life to the fullest the last few weeks, even though all I want to do is hide away in my apartment (I do have my days). Tomorrow is another big court day, and I’d appreciate your prayers and thoughts for my family and myself. Words can’t express the gratitude I feel for you all, and I feel your love. “

Shari posted a photo of her cat, Muppet, to her Instagram Stories Monday night saying, “Muppet hopes you have a good day, and he also hopes you’ll help our family by not supporting Lifetime.”
