SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Phillip Prince, of Wagram, bought a $1 Cash 5 ticket Sunday and won a $324,564 jackpot, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

His ticket matched all five numbers in the drawing to win the jackpot. Another ticket also matched all five numbers in the same drawing, so Prince received half of the $649,128 jackpot.

The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598.

Prince claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Tuesday.

After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $232,065.

Do you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning then win the lottery. I guess this ad is supposed to convince us to start buying one dollar tickets at the convenience stores. That happens so rare to his practically nonexistent. They don’t call it a poor man’s tax for nothing.
