RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Randolph County residents are bringing attention back to their concerns about a shooting range in their neighborhood.

During a board of commissioners meeting on Oct. 7, many concerned residents shared why they want restrictions on the gun range.

Five Randolph County residents stood before the board of commissioners during the board’s meeting and expressed their frustration about what they’re saying is constant gunshots from the Triad Action Shooting Club every day of the week.

“I work a third shift. When I try to sleep during the day, I can’t,” said John Motsinger, a resident.

According to residents who live nearby, this isn’t the first time they’ve complained. A committee called the Fuller Mill North Committee got a commissioner involved in 2001.

“For the next 15 years, nothing was done, and the range noise grew,” said Isacc Hoffman, a resident.

Hoffman found out his property value decreased because of the noise.

“That was when I applied for a property tax decrease in the county, and they agreed. Many neighbors have also had their taxes lowered due to the economic depletion due to the gun range noise,” Hoffman said.

Homes are spread out, but even a half mile down the road, gunshots can still be heard consistently.

One man says he struggles with PTSD and the gunfire amplifies his condition.

The board of commissioners was not available for comment.

You try having guns shots heard 24/7 at your house. Beside you. In front of you behind you where you live. Sleep eat. Every day. Gun shots.
