Armed suspect dead in Mount Airy after pursuit; police K-9 shot, killed, city officials say

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. (WGHP) — An armed suspect is dead in Mount Airy after a pursuit on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the City of Mount Airy.

The suspect was found in the Flatrock area.

A police K-9 named Draco was shot and killed, according to the Mount Airy Police Department.

No officers were injured.

Good afternoon, there was an armed suspect on the loose in the City/County. City and County Officers were in pursuit and the armed suspect was located in the Flatrock area. The individual is now deceased. Unfortunately, our K-9 dog was shot, all other personnel are safe. More details to follow.
