DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman was found dead after a shooting outside a popular fast-food restaurant near Durham on Saturday night, officials said.

The incident was reported just after 10:30 p.m. at the Cook Out in the 1500 block of S. Miami Boulevard/U.S. 70, just east of Durham near Angier Avenue, according to a news release from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, one person was found dead at the scene, the news release said.

Sunday afternoon, deputies said the victim who died was Davicia Annie Jean Lee, 29.

“Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensics Unit are currently on scene conducting an investigation,” deputies said on Saturday night.

The deadly Cook Out shooting was reported soon after four people were shot and an active shooter alert was issued at North Carolina Central University about 5 miles away.

Sunday, deputies said the shooting at Cook Out was an isolated incident. No one was charged as of Sunday, deputies said.

Deputies said the deadly shooting investigation was “in its early stages and additional information will be provided when appropriate.”
