Improved loan portfolio lifts First Bancorp's second-quarter profit
A significant lowering in First Bancorp’s loan-loss provision during the second quarter was the primary factor in the bank’s 2.3% jump in net income to $28.7 million. The Southern Pines-based bank reported Wednesday diluted earnings were 70 cents, down 1 cent from year ago.
