Colonel Thomas J. Bittelari
Colonel Bittelari, of Framingham, formerly of Watertown, died on Saturday, May 11, 2024. He was born on September 7, 1927 to the late John and Christina (Lambert) Bittelari. Colonel Bittelari retired as a Colonel of the U.S. Army and the Massachusetts Army National Guard, following 40 years of service. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He enlisted in the Massachusetts Army National Guard in 1950. He received a direct commission as a Second Lieutenant in1952. He served in many military positions, during his Antiaircraft Artillery Group, Battery Commander Artillery and the last as commander of the 1st Missile Battalion (Nike Hercules) 24151 Artillery. He was appointed to the position of United States Property & Fiscal Officer (USPFO) of Massachusetts and placed on active duty by the president of the United States on March 1, 1981 and retired from that position on September 30, 1987. Among many awards, he was the recipient of the Legion of Merit and the Army Commendation medal.
Four MassBay Community College Students Awarded Scholarships from the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
Four exceptional students from MassBay Community College have been selected by the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Boston Professionals as recipients of the Boston Scholarship program, each receiving $2,500. Reginald Ben Arthur Jr., Esther Jagwer of Waltham, Mass., Adrian Gilbert Miller of Boston, and Leo Russell of Ashland, Mass. were awarded this prestigious honor at the 6th Annual NSBE Inspire STEM Gala on February 24, 2024, in Boston.

Join Rabbi Katy from Ma’yan Tikvah- A Wellspring of Hope on Wednesday, May 15 at 7:00 PM via zoom to learn about Y’ladim BaTeva. Y’ladim BaTeva – Children in Nature is a hands-on, Torah-based learning program for children in grades K-8 that takes place outdoors in the woods and focuses on Earth-based eco-Judaism. Y’ladim BaTeva focuses on the individual student using differentiated learning, which is important for all kinds of learners but especially those who can benefit from active, outdoor, experiential learning. The program is family-centered and welcomes all kind of families, including interfaith, LGBTQ families and Jews of color to participate in regular family programs. Y’ladim BaTeva intentionally engages children and families in community service projects and acts of advocacy and justice. As an alternative to traditional Jewish learning opportunities, it not only provides students joyful learning but also encourages teachers to share their passions. Interested in learning even more? Century Chinese Language School Open House May 5th
Attention everyone! Century Chinese Language School will be hosting an Open House at the Hemenway Building at Framingham State University on Sunday, May 5th, from 1:30-4:00pm. We are a school that have been teaching Chinese to young students for almost 30 years. Our school offers Chinese classes to both students from Chinese families and Chinese as second-language learners at all ages. At the Open House, visitors may sit-in on all our classes.
