Armed Robbery at Check Cash Depot: Suspects Flee Toward Prince George’s County
Takoma Park Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Check Cash Depot on University Blvd. East last Friday. Officers were called to the 7900 block of New Hampshire Ave. around 9:07 p.m. on Friday, August 16, in response to an armed robbery that had taken place earlier at the Check Cash Depot in the 1000 block of University Blvd. East. According to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy, the victim was heading to their vehicle when they noticed the driver’s side door was open and a suspect armed with a handgun was standing nearby.

Initially, I assumed these were merely “dummy” cameras; however, I came across a post from the Logan location (below) indicating that the cameras will be actively monitored by trained professionals.
