FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting, on Tuesday, July 9 in the church fellowship hall. Carole Spencer presided and Angie Scott led in prayer. The ladies provided the following report:

“Dyan Hefner gave the devotion. You have a cup of coffee and someone bumps into you and it spills. Why did it spill? Whatever is in the cup spills out. It is just like life, it can shake us up. Whenever life gets tough, what is inside of us spills out. It can be joy, peace, humility, anger, bitterness or a harsh reaction. We should show gratitude, joy, kindness,  affirmation,  and love to others. Life presents the cup and we decide what comes out. Marty Burns and Debbie Sammons sang, “Fill my cup, Lord” to the group.

“Barbara Seldomridge gave the missionary education report about John and Gwen Johnson. In January 2020, they were appointed Global Strategy regional coordinators for Africa. They travel throughout Africa to develop regional strategies and cultivate relationships within the Church of God across Africa. They also oversee missionaries and projects in the region. John and Gwen have been involved in missions with the Church of God since 1980. They have lived in Korea, Egypt, Lebanon, the Island of Guam, and Vietnam. They served as cross-cultural disciple makers with a concentration in leadership formation. From  2006-2014, John and Gwen took a break from missions and he was a professor at Warner Pacific University in Portland, Oregon. He taught ministry and missions. After leaving Warner Pacific University, they served as site pastors for the My Dinh campus of Hanoi International Fellowship in Hanoi, Vietnam. In May 2024, John has been traveling across Africa with other missionaries to teach discipleship procedures. Gwen is in Indiana recovering from an illness and regaining her strength.

“Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last’s month’s minutes.

“The church held Vacation Bible School from July 15- July 19. It was called. “The Incredible Race.”  Many children attended and it was a great success. There will be no Ruritan meeting held in July at the church. The Sunday school picnic will be held on August 4. The group made a donation to Camp Lyons in Salt Lick, Kentucky to help with purchasing sheets for their lodge rooms. The next yard sale will be held on Saturday. September 7.”

The next meeting will be on August 6.

    Barb Seldomridge dismissed in prayer.

Attending were Alice Coff, Angie Scott, Barb Seldomridge, Cari Nelson, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Carol Spencer, Donna Scott, Debbie Sammons, Dyan Hefner, Fran Spencer,  Jamie Harvey, Marty Burns, Pauline Perkins and Patty Owens.
