Frankfort Police are investigating the distribution of KKK recruitment flyers in Franklin County
If you find litter in your yard, throw it away. Captain Scott Tracy of the Frankfort Police Department says that’s no different from how you should treat KKK flyers. “We know this is not who Frankfort is. You know, we know this is not who we are as a community.”
Lebanon man arrested in Franklin County
A Lebanon man is in the Franklin County Regional Jail after leading deputies on a chase involving kayaks. According to a story in the Frankfort State-Journal, Austin Claude Cooper, 22, of Lebanon, is accused of stealing a kayak at knifepoint in Peaks Mill on July 11. Frankfort police alerted deputies and detectives that a male had been observed driving recklessly and fleeing toward the Peaks Mills area. When law enforcement arrived, they located the vehicle, but the driver had fled on foot.
Unity Day 5K to take place Monday
Unity Day 5K will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Lakeview Park. There will be games, free food and free school supplies. All area school children are invited. Heat advisory in effect through Tuesday night
A heat advisory is in effect for Franklin and surrounding counties through 9 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service in Louisville warns that the combination of temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s and high humidity will drive heat index values between 103 and 107 into Tuesday night and posing an increased risk to heat illnesses.
