Livermore Falls man injured, Rumford woman arrested in crashes in Sandy River Plantation
SANDY RIVER PLANTATION — Franklin County deputies handled two separate crashes Thursday — a Livermore Falls man injured in one and a Rumford woman charged in the other. Deland Small, 70, of Livermore Falls was driving a 1994 Honda Goldwing motorcycle south on state Route 4 just before 2 p.m. when it rounded a corner and went into a ditch.
Webster Library hosting Literacy Volunteers activity
KINGFIELD – This summer Literacy Volunteers is sharing their Looking At Books activity with Franklin County libraries to promote literacy in the community and raise awareness of their programming. Looking At Books is a self contained activity station for readers of all ages and includes information for adults about using any book as a teaching and learning tool with any child.

Preparing students for successful, good paying careers in Maine
Earlier this week, I was really excited to be back in Farmington, my hometown, to cut the ribbon on the new Bjorn Center for Career and Technical Education. This is one of only two centers in Maine that put CTEs in the middle school environment, and I’m so excited about it. This particular center is funded by a generous $2.8 million donation from our good friend Dick Bjorn and $250,000 in state funds and $130,000 in federal funds designated by the Franklin County Commissioners.
Lewiston and Farmington organizations to receive $3.3 million in Maine Connectivity Authority grants
PORTLAND — Twelve community organizations across Maine will benefit from $12 million in grants from the Maine Connectivity Authority to fund digital improvements. Among the recipients are SeniorsPlus and YWCA Central Maine in Lewiston, and Franklin County Adult and Community Education in Farmington, which are set to receive $3.3 million in total between them, the authority announced Friday.
