Fire crews battle fire burning near Columbia River, north of Pasco
We continue to be in high fire danger in the lower basin. Crews from Franklin County and surrounding areas are battling a fire on Columbia River Road and Fir Road north of Pasco. This is a rural area, across the river from the Hanford site. It started just after noon yesterday. At least 6 homes were threatened.
2 Tri-Cities companies to pay $470K after farmworkers reported rapes, harassment
Two Pasco companies will pay $470,000 to resolve a lawsuit alleging multiple rapes and sexual harassment of their female farmworkers by a supervisor. The companies, Greenridge Farms and Baker Produce, retaliated against the women who spoke up, including a woman who reported to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office that she had been raped multiple times, according to the Washington state Office of the Attorney General.
