The heat is on: Excessive Heat Watch starts Tuesday
Day 13 of 90º heat is behind us in Central Indiana. Indianapolis hit that number for a high with most hometowns in similar territory. The third heat wave of the summer is underway with the 90s continuing for much of the work week. You may have received a notification that an Excessive Heat Watch was issued and that’s indeed the case. This will be the story heading into the work week with that watch in effect for Tuesday, August 27.

Butler announces plans to turn Ross Hall into boutique hotel

After two years of disuse, Ross Hall will reopen its doors in the 2026-2027 academic year as a boutique hotel. Following restoration efforts, the university and Hilton plan to break ground on the development of the hotel in spring 2025.
Garcia clinches USF2000 title in style at Portland as Argyros wins
An intense climax to the USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire season began Saturday morning at Portland International Raceway with Pabst Racing’s Max Garcia taking a hard-fought victory. It was enough to wrap up the championship in style. Later in the day, a thrilling first half of the final race witnessed USF2000 competition at its finest with a sensational six-car scrap for the lead. Sadly, a chaotic series of incidents blighted the second half of the race and concluded with rookie G3 Argyros, from Newport Beach, Calif., surviving to claim an unlikely maiden victory after having lined up 14th on the starting grid.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle branches will be closed through the Labor Day weekend. Branches will be closed from Saturday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 2. BMV branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday Sept. 3.
