Nevada softball ace Tyra Clary transferring to Louisiana Lafayette for final college year
Tyra Clary, who led the Mountain West in ERA each of the last two seasons, is transferring from Nevada to Louisiana Lafayette for her final year of college eligibility. A Spanish Springs High alum, Clary entered the transfer portal earlier this month. She walked on at Nevada in 2022 before becoming a top-flight pitcher in the MW in 2023 and 2024. After going 6-10 with a 8.25 ERA in her debut season in silver and blue, she went 16-11 with a 2.17 ERA and six saves over the last two years while leading the MW in ERA in 2023 (1.81) and 2024 (2.45).

Texas man arrested on Attempted Murder charges in Terrebonne Parish
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Humble, Texas man in connection with a July 9th shooting in the 300 block of Patrick Drive in Schriever, La. Authorities arrested Keith David Joseph, 45, of Humble, Tx, who is facing charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder in connection with the incident.

Baton Rouge saw strong job growth in June
The Baton Rouge metropolitan statistical area added 1,300 jobs from May to June to bring its total to 426,200, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. A former LSU offensive lineman has announced a new transfer destination. Kardell Thomas signed with LSU out of Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge.
