Pirates fans might be ignoring reality surrounding Paul Skenes' second-half workload
Before the 2024 MLB All-Star Game even started, Fox Sports color analyst and Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz sounded giddy with anticipation. Soon, Pittsburgh Pirates rookie phenom Paul Skenes would be taking the mound, making history as the first player to go from No. 1 overall draft pick to starting in the All-Star Game the following year, and showing that he was ready to shine on baseball's biggest stage.

District 1 News: New resolution authorizes city to contract with plumbers
Hello everyone, At the start of the summer season, my office received numerous calls asking about the status of various water features and drinking fountains within city parks. The City has one plumber who is responsible for preparing the pools, spray parks, drinking fountains, and bathrooms along with addressing any issues that arise in recreation centers, senior centers, and any other city-owned building. One person cannot manage all of these responsibilities and these city services need to be provided for all of our residents.
Former Penguins still out on the UFA market
Daniel Sprong signed with Vancouver over the weekend for a one-year deal worth little over the minimum salary. It’s just the latest twist to continue his strange and winding career. Sprong has scored 39 goals and 89 points in the prior two seasons, for two different clubs (Seattle and Detroit). In both instances, he did so from a low time on ice role, but made the most of it. The Canucks will be the 27 year old’s sixth team. He’s yet to play 90+ games with any one team. For one reason or another that’s clearly not related to his play (general vibes? attitude? awareness? coachability?) Sprong hasn’t quite found his niche and place just yet.
Cooperstown native named new play-by-play voice of Pittsburgh Steelers
Rob King will never forget the setting — pumping gas at an Amoco station in St. Louis. The same for the creative possibilities a friend’s suggestion spurred. Nearing the end of his time at Washington University in the late 1980s, King was actually considering business school when his career took a sharp left turn.

And in total, seven players with NHL deals played for the Nailers last season. Under new president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas, the Penguins placed a greater emphasis on getting prospects ...

Highland Park trees may have to make way for water treatment work
"Landscaping lends itself to stabilization of the park hillside, the canopy, the recreation enjoyment, the benefits of the park alone.
