FRANKLIN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Numerous fire departments respond to a large fire at a plant nursery facility and warehouse in the eastern Connecticut town of Franklin.

The facility on Pond Road went up in flames around 5 a.m. Monday morning.

The response to the large blaze included the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, joining the Lebanon, Mohegan, and Bozrah Fire Departments in helping the Franklin Fire Department.

A large amount of fertilizer was among materials that burned up in the fire, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Local residents as of 10 a.m. Monday were sheltering in place with closed windows to protect themselves from any chemical spread.

    The cause hasn't been determined.
