In Brooklyn, New York, a 36-year-old man is currently in critical condition after allegedly instigating a confrontation on a subway train and being shot with his own gun.

The incident, captured on cellphone video, occurred on a northbound A train at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Mobile footage captured the chaotic scene, with passengers seeking safety amidst the gunfire. A terrified woman can be heard demanding to be let out.

Police reported that a 32-year-old man entered the train at Nostrand Avenue Station.

Upon the train's departure, a 36-year-old man already onboard engaged with the younger man in an aggressive and provocative manner as observed by witnesses.

Verbal altercation escalated to physical confrontation, resulting in the older man brandishing a knife or razor blade before retrieving a gun from his jacket.

Advancing menacingly towards the younger man with the firearm, a physical struggle ensued.

During the scuffle, the younger man disarmed the older man and fired shots, fatally hitting him in the head.

The commotion prompted the train to halt at Hoyt-Schermerhorn station, where law enforcement swiftly responded to the incident.

The individual, aged 36, was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

Law enforcement officials have reported the discovery of a firearm at the incident location.

A 32-year-old individual is currently in police custody and is undergoing questioning. At present, no charges have been pressed.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted into the matter.
