Republicans decry early voting but urge supporters to do it anyway
LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — The chairman of the Ohio Republican Party has hit the message hard to his delegation on a daily basis: It's OK to vote early. In fact, it's encouraged. It's a message that former President Donald Trump — usually the loudest critic in the room when it comes to the integrity of the early vote — has also hit every night via video at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. “The way we win is to swamp them,” Trump says. “If we swamp them, they can't cheat. It just doesn't work out. But if you can't make it [on Election Day], you need to make a plan, register, and vote any way possible.” That message directly conflicts with a plank in the just-approved, scaled-back Republican platform, which calls for a return to strictly same-day voting, a decision that is typically made on a state-by-state basis. The platform also calls for mandatory voter identification, proof of citizenship, and more sophisticated paper ballots.

The Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds perform for Celebrate New Concord July 23
Celebrate New Concord, the treasured annual summer concert series. The Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds(MVSW) was founded by Muskingum University Professor of Music, Dr. William Schlacks, in 1993 when the Muskingum Valley Community Band was converted to a semi-professional organization with patrons. The performances of the MVSW have had an emphasis on continuing to build an audience through collaboration and joint concerts with various Muskingum University student and faculty music ensembles as well as soloists which represent not only Muskingum University Music Faculty, but Music Faculty from universities outside of Ohio. This will be the fourth concert for the 2024 Celebrate New Concord Summer Concert Series. It will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 7:00 PM at Village Park, 2 West Main Street. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 E. High Street. Admission is free! Come early and enjoy the New Concord Farmers Market from 4-7 p.m. at the corner of Maple and Layton.
