A Martinsburg, W.Va., woman has won $50,000 through the Maryland Lottery's Pick 5 game.

Annette Smith, a Maryland native, has bought Maryland Lottery games for several years and bought the winning ticket at the 1001 W. Patrick St. Wawa in Frederick, Md., on her way to work, according to a Maryland Lottery news release.

She used variations of her birthday numbers on a few Pick 5 tickets.

She found out she won after work and rushed home to let her husband know about the win, the release states.

Smith told the Lottery she's often bought Lottery games for fun, but also in hope of some relief during challenging economic times.

She said she expects to save the winnings, investing them.

The Wawa store will get a $500 bonus for selling the $50,000 winning Pick 5 ticket.
