Niles named Public Utilities Director for the City of Manhattan
The City of Manhattan announced on Wednesday the hiring of a new Director of Public Utilities for the city. Kevin Niles, who is the current Utilities Director in Odessa, Texas, will begin his work for the city beginning on Sept. 3. Niles is set to oversee the recently reconstructed Public Utilities Department, which provides services for Manhattan and surrounding infrastructure.
Overland Park man sustains life-threatening injuries during ‘intentional’ crash
TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) - An Overland Park man sustained life-threatening injuries during a collision first responders in Topeka say was intentional. The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, emergency crews were called to the area of westbound I-70 and Carlson Rd., west of Topeka, with reports of a single-vehicle collision.

Wichita man sentenced to prison for human trafficking
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 36-year-old Wichita man has been sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison for human trafficking. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Judge Christopher Magana on Tuesday sentenced Alan Jones to 92 months. He pleased guilty on June 25 to attempted commercial sexual exploitation of a child, promoting the sale of sexual relations, attempted robbery, criminal threat and criminal damage to property.
