Evergy: More than 13k without power following overnight storms
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Thousands of people lost power late Wednesday night and into early Thursday morning as severe thunderstorm warnings rolled through the area. Just before midnight Wednesday, Evergy reported more than 26,000 customers without power. That number includes parts of Wichita and Topeka but was considerably influenced by more than 5,600 customers who lost power in the Leavenworth, Kansas, area as of 11:50 p.m.

Former police chief charged in Kansas newspaper raid investigated by CBI
The Kansas sheriff who raided a local newspaper last year has been criminally charged and Colorado investigators played a considerable part in the investigation.Former Marion Police Chief Giden Cody has been charged with felony interference with the judicial process. The charge comes just shy of a year after The Marion Police Department raided the Marion County Record, a local newspaper, and the homes of several of its journalists. USD 461 ELC Opening Tomorrow
The USD 461 Early Learning Center is ready to open. The Neodesha ELC was planned to open on Monday but had to delay the opening pending the results of a final inspection by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. They have received the temporary permit from the KDHE and will open tomorrow.
