FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Police have arrested Jeremy Alspaugh, 42, for allegedly engaging in a bloody knife fight with another man during an argument on Sunday.

According to Freeport Police, around 2:30 p.m. in the 600 block of N. Walnut Avenue, Alspaugh was involved in an argument outside of the building with another man. He reportedly went into the building, returned with a knife, and placed the victim in a headlock.

Police said the victim was injured while struggling to get away from Alspaugh.

The victim, who suffered a cut to his neck and a puncture wound to his chest, then produced his own knife. Police said Alspaugh then retreated back into the building.

The victim was taken to Freeport Memorial Hospital and later transferred to a Rockford hospital, where he is now listed as “stable.”

Alspaugh was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery causing Great Bodily Harm and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
