    Freeport Police capture felon wanted for June shooting

    FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police announced the arrest of Martell Pogue, 35, who was wanted for a shooting in June on W. Douglas Street.

    According to police, around 1:14 p.m. on June 21st, officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 300 block.

    During the investigation, police learned Pogue and another man were fighting and Pogue pulled a weapon and shot at the victim before fleeing the scene.

    No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

    Delovia Ford, 36, was arrested later that day for alleged possession of a firearm and cannabis, in connection with the crime.

    A 16-year-old juvenile was also arrested for allegedly threatening the same victim with a firearm, and was charged with possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 18, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm.

    A warrant was issued for Pogue’s arrest.

    On July 19th, at 10 a.m., officers arrested Pogue in the 900 block of South Arcade Avenue. He is charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm within 1000 feet of a school, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.

    He was booked into the Stephenson County Jail and being held pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
