A new documentary film about political corruption in Chicago and throughout Illinois will be screened at The Crystal Theatre in July. "Lincoln is Crying: The Grifters, Grafters, and Governors of Illinois" is a "scathing indictment of political corruption in Illinois...and it's funny, too." The film was put together by the team of Director John Davies and Executive Producers Dave Truitt and Brian Kallies, and the story is told by journalists, authors, entertainers, and more. It is currently available as a one-hour censored version on WNMU-TV and the PBS Passport, but the screening at The Crystal Theatre will be the 4K, 86-minute uncensored version.

If you’ve ever wanted to run the bases at Wrigley Field, you can turn your dream into a reality at Little Cubs Field in Freeport. Denny Garkey, Vice President of Little Cubs Field, says the idea to create the field came after seeing a kid’s whiffle ball field and wishing it resembled Wrigley Field. He began working on it in 2005, and the field officially opened on April 23rd, 2008. The field is available to rent for special occasions such as birthday parties, weddings, and work outings. However, it’s open anytime for play. The field has a few things from Wrigley, two pieces of ivy, a few stadium chairs, and 3 bricks behind home plate. Construction to begin on Locust Avenue in Freeport
FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - Construction on South Locust Avenue in Freeport will begin Thursday, June 27, weather-permitting. The project includes water main and sewer upgrades as well as a complete repaving of the street between South Street and Lincoln Boulevard. Crews expect work will be complete before the start of the school year.
