(Bloomberg) — In an industrial corner of Oakland, wedged between a 10-lane freeway and a freight terminal, sits California’s newest source of renewable energy: a squadron of shiny yellow electric school buses. It’s the first all-electric bus fleet serving a major US school district. Starting in August, the 74 vehicles will also supply 2.1 gigawatt-hours of electricity to the Bay Area power grid, enough energy for 300 to 400 homes.

OAKLAND -- The Oakland Ballers independent professional baseball team is changing managers before the end of its inaugural season, the team announced Sunday.The Ballers, who play in the independent Pioneer League, announced that San Francisco native and former Major League Baseball outfielder Micah Franklin has been relieved of his duties as manager. Aaron Miles, an Antioch native and 2006 World Series winner with the St. Louis Cardinals, was appointed as interim manager after previously serving as the team's third base coach.The Ballers played home games at Raimondi Park in West Oakland starting this year and have sought to establish themselves as a pro baseball replacement for the Oakland Athletics, the Major League Baseball team that is leaving Oakland for Sacramento starting next year with plans to eventually move to Las Vegas.The B's (the alternative to the A's) did not release a reason for moving on from Franklin as manager. The Oakland A's are expected to move to Las Vegas to begin the 2028 season. When that time comes, they'll need to have a new stadium. About that... While this will hopefully bring some exciting new changes to the franchise, the organization had a presentation earlier this week for the new stadium that didn't go so well. At the presentation, the A’s confirmed there are currently no financing plans for a proposed $1.5 billion ballpark in Las Vegas, per Scott Roeben from Vital Vegas. This should raise some concern for the franchise and its fans.
