Driver pinned, killed in Sherman Twp crash

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was killed in a Thursday evening crash in Sherman Township.

Around 9:30 p.m., deputies with the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office were sent to Baldwin Avenue near Ridge Road for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a vehicle had left the roadway and hit some trees. The driver, a 68-year-old Fremont man, was pinned in the vehicle. He died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

The road was closed for about two hours while deputies investigated and cleared the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
