Capron Captures Junior Gold Title
Incoming Husker freshman bowler Karina Capron took home the U18 title at the 2024 Junior Gold Championships in Allen Park, Mich., Saturday evening. Capron, the U12 2017 Junior Gold Champion, qualified for match play in sixth after five qualifying rounds. In matches of two games total pinfall, Capron defeated Maggie Smith 427-295, Amanda Lang 394-391 and Melia Mitskavich 395-373 before facing Kaitlyn Stull in a match to decide the placements for the tv show. Capron fell to Stull 441-414 and earned the second-place spot in the finals.

Commission approves ‘racino’ license transfer to Ogallala in western Nebraska
LINCOLN — The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has unanimously approved transferring a racing license from a racetrack in Hastings to a new facility in Ogallala. Commissioners voted 7-0 Friday to allow the license transfer for Hastings Exposition and Racing Inc. The company plans to partner with Elite Casino Resorts, which owns the resort in Grand Island, and plans to establish a multi-track quarter horse racing circuit in western Nebraska.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - TMCO capped a 5-0 weekend at the Cornhusker State Games with a 67-62 win over Bison in the gold medal game. A top class of 2026 offensive lineman has cut his list of finalists, and Nebraska made the list. Jackson Cantwell is a five-star offensive tackle for Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri. Cantwell cut the number of offers he’s currently considering in half. Nebraska is listed among the 14 finalists the tackle named earlier in the week.
