Judge denies bail for operator of illegal Reedley biolab
REEDLEY – The man behind the illegal lab in Reedley will remain in custody after his bail request was denied in federal court. On July 17, 2024, U.S. District Judge Dale A. Drozd of the Eastern District Court denied without prejudice Jia Bei Zhu’s request. Federal prosecutors argued that Zhu, also known as David He, is considered a flight risk with close ties to China.
