Mississippi's Capital City Is Catching up on Paying Overdue Bills, Mayor Says
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi's capital city has been working to pay a stack of overdue bills the past few months. The city has paid $9 million since January, reducing the number of outstanding invoices from 470 to 180, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said at a news conference Monday, WLBT-TV reported.

VPD Addresses Officer Videoed Swerving on the Highway
The Vicksburg Police Department is addressing a VPD officer captured on video swerving on the highway. Here is a direct link to the video. The video of the VPD officer swerving across lanes on the highway was posted by a concerned citizen. On the video, the unit can be observed crossing the center line and swerving back into their lane several times. The unit then swerves from the center line to the exit at Clay without signaling.

Lady Eagles fell short in season opener against Madison St. Joe
In their season opener, Porter’s Chapel Academy‘s Lady Eagles took a loss to Madison St. Joe in game one but hung in tight in game two. In game one, PCA fell short 14-4 Mia Abdo led the Lady Eagles with two hits. Natalie Cantin hit a double and two RBIs while Marley Bufkin and Brooklynn Nicholson had a hit.
