Arkansas ribs eatery wins Rib Off for fourth straight year
Both the judges and the general public voted for repeat favorites in this year’s 40th edition of The Blade’s Northwest Ohio Rib Off. Porky Chicks BBQ, based in Fayetteville, Ark., won the judges’ choice top prize for the fourth year in a row and fifth time overall, with the non-consecutive victory having been in 2015. And O’Henrys Kitchen on Wheels, a Toledo-based food truck run by Keith Henry, took home the people’s choice award for the second straight year. Mark Grant, owner of Porky Chicks, said his kitchen had never before carried a rib show four straight years, and he plans to be back to try for five in 2025.

Police arrest suspect accused of shooting juveniles near Waite High School
TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police arrested a suspect Tuesday accused of shooting and injuring two juveniles near Waite High School over the weekend. According to court records, 18-year-old Terrence Frazier was charged with three counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of felonious assault with a victim seriously harmed. The Toledo Walleye have re-signed productive forward Mitchell Lewandowski, who averaged nearly a point per game as a rookie for the team last season. Lewandowski tallied 54 points in 57 games for the Walleye, averaging 0.95 points per game. The native of Clarkston, Mich. scored 14 goals to go along with 40 assists. Lewandowski, who played five seasons at Michigan State University, was a key cog in a Toledo offense that averaged 4.1 goals per game. The Walleye now have five of their top six scorers back.
