Augusta police: Suspect in custody after apparent standoff on Route 3
AUGUSTA, Maine — Police said an incident in Augusta that prompted the shutdown of Route 3 near the city line, has ended in an arrest. Augusta police announced on their Facebook page that as of 7:52 p.m. the road had been reopened and a suspect has been taken into custody. 2 women injured in Auburn crash; charges expected
AUBURN (WGME) -- Police say two Maine women were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Auburn on Tuesday. The crash happened around 6 a.m. on Washington Street. Police say a Ford Escape driven by a 77-year-old Lewiston woman was trying to cross Washington Street when she entered the path of a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 25-year-old Lewiston woman. The two vehicles then collided.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move across areas north of Bangor thru mid-morning then we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds for today with a chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. It’ll be hot and humid with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to low 80s along the coast and mid-80s to low 90s inland. Dew points will be in the upper 60s to low 70s which will make it feel like it in the low to mid-90s for interior locations. An upper level disturbance crossing the area tonight will give us a chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms through the overnight hours. Temperatures will be warm tonight with lows in the mid-60s to low 70s. Patchy fog is likely tonight as well.
Down East Showdown Recap and Winners
This past weekend, Bucksport Recreation/YMCA hosted the 3rd annual Down East Showdown in efforts to raise money for youth scholarships and Bucksport youth basketball. There were 16 teams representing 14 schools (two schools entered two teams) from as north as Presque Isle to as south as Portland for a weekend of competitive fun basketball. Although it was hot, the gym floors held up fabulously thanks to the teamwork between the YMCA and RSU 25.
