Genelle Taylor Kumpe has expanded on her role with the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance, picking up another CEO responsibility with the Fresno Business Council.

She steps into the role previously held by Deborah Nankivell, who is transitioning to the Fresno Stewardship Foundation.

Genelle’s Executive Profile in this week’s print edition of The Business Journal covers the organizations’ transition, her past roles for organizations such as the Marjaree Mason Center and how the Fresno Business Council is engaging the next generation of business leaders.

Here are some excerpts from her Executive Profile. For more information, subscribe today .

Tell us about your position at Fresno Business Council (FBC) and San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance (SJVMA)?

I am honored to hold significant leadership roles in both the Fresno Business Council (FBC) as CEO and the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance (SJVMA) as CEO, organizations that are closely connected through their shared mission of fostering regional economic development and workforce empowerment.

At FBC, I work to drive initiatives that enhance the economic vitality of the Fresno region. Investment in workforce education, training and preparation helps to build the foundation for professional success, creating stronger businesses and, in turn, a stronger community. FBC is focused on engaging the next generation of business leaders and building awareness of the important role of civic stewardship in both individual business success and community improvement.

As a key figure in SJVMA, I serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the manufacturing sector in the San Joaquin Valley. SJVMA is dedicated to strengthening the regional manufacturing industry through workforce development, education, and policy advocacy. The alliance works closely with local manufacturers to address challenges, promote innovation, and enhance competitiveness.

What’s in the future for these organizations as they undergo an executive transition?

Our aim is to foster innovation, collaboration, and growth across our core initiatives, including the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance, Career Nexus , and Heartland Compass . Through these efforts, we strive to make substantial contributions to the economic vitality and quality of life in our community, while also preparing future leaders to sustain this momentum.

How can the business community support the Fresno Business Council (FBC)?

The business community can support the Fresno Business Council (FBC) in several ways, one of which is increasing membership and participation by encouraging businesses to become members of the FBC and actively participate in our activities, such as events, meetings, and committees. This not only provides financial support but also brings diverse perspectives and expertise to the council.

Facilitating networking opportunities between businesses and the FBC members is a great way to collaborate on projects, initiatives, and advocacy efforts that ultimately strengthen both the council and individual businesses. These opportunities offer an avenue to help raise awareness about the FBC and its initiatives within the business community and beyond.

By actively engaging with and supporting the Fresno Business Council, the business community can contribute to its mission of fostering economic growth, promoting sustainable development, and advocating for policies that benefit businesses and the community as a whole.
