‘Great fanbase’: Ice Cube on why he’s coming to Fresno next week

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE ) – The Summer Jam at the Save Mart Center will be in Fresno later this month and one of the artists attending is rapper and actor Ice Cube.

KSEE24’s Taryn Mitchell spoke to Ice Cube, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, about the Summer Jam and what the audience can expect. Ice Cube says that it will be a great show and they will be giving Fresno almost 40 years of great music.

The Summer Jam will be on July 12 at the Save Mart Center. The lineup will include Ice Cube, Warren G, Zapp, Xzibit, Amanda Perez, Baby Bash and the Luniz.

The Fresno show is one of two shows that will be in California. What makes Fresno special? Ice Cube says the fanbase has always supported him.

“I mean it’s a great fanbase that always supported me. Who always come to my movies, whenever I perform they come buy my records,” Ice Cube said. “They just support me, buy a lot of my merchandise. You see people around Fresno with Ice Cube shirts on.”

He said that it was only right to come to Fresno, and being an artist who has been in the game as long as he has he says you want to go to all your fans.

“They shouldn’t have to drive to Los Angeles. You want to make sure you go to the fans and not have them come to you all the time,” he said.
