FRESNO, Calif. ( KGPE ) – On Wednesday, high temperatures across the Central Valley reached the upper 90s, giving residents a typical July day. In fact, Fresno’s high of 98 degrees was spot on with the average high. These upper 90 degrees Wednesday put an end to a 16-day stretch of triple-digit heat.

The stretch of over 100 degrees temperatures started on July 1. Below is a look at July’s high temperatures so far.

Although this was a long triple-digit streak, it wasn’t one of our top stretches. In 2018, we set a record for the most triple-digit days in a row at 30 days. Last year, we tied for the second longest triple-digit stretch on record at 21 days. We also had a 21-day streak in 2022, and before that, a 21-day stretch in 2005.

Below is a look at where we stand so far this season with our triple-digit stats. Tuesday not only marked 16 days in a row of triple-digit heat, but it was the 27th triple-digit day of the season. On average, Fresno has 38 days at or above 100 degrees in a season.

Wednesday’s 98-degree high temperature is the only day below 100 degrees in our 7-Day Forecast. Thursday will mark the start of a new stretch of triple-digit heat.

Extremely hot weather returns this weekend with highs hovering near 105 degrees. By next week, highs will get closer to 110 degrees again. An excessive heat watch has been issued starting next Monday, and it will last at least through next Wednesday morning.

This excessive heat watch is not only for the Central Valley but also for the foothills and areas up to 4000 square-feet in elevation, including Yosemite Valley.

Please take advantage of cooling centers, and check on your family and friends.
