Teacher earns free 1-year gym membership in Fresno: you won’t believe how

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Physical Education teacher Joshua Martinez earned a year-long free membership at The Iron Office in Fresno after waiting outside for 24 hours.

The Iron Office advertised on social media a challenge to the first person in line for their Fig Garden location’s grand opening: a free year-long membership.

Joshua Martinez waited 24 hours outside without once leaving the line or having anyone save his spot. He was the first person in line when the gym opened and he won the free membership as promised.

“I live down the street, been into fitness for a while,” Martinez said. “I did my bodybuilding shows last year.”

Martinez says he was inspired by one of The Iron Office’s most prominent members, former two-time Arnold Classic Champion and Mr. Olympia, Erin Banks.

“I just wanted to come out here and see myself and just get all the opportunities that I can get,” Martinez said. “This is my hobby. This is what I usually do. I love it. I’m passionate for it. You can’t teach passion. You either have it or you don’t.”

Being a P.E. teacher, Martinez was able to take advantage of summer break to let his passion take him straight to the Iron Office’s front door, where he was the first one in line the day before the grand opening.

Martinez says he hopes his students follow his example and go after what they want with passion and determination.

“Always give effort and put in the work.”

Management at The Iron Office says Martinez will have the chance to put in the work in their state-of-the-art gym equipped with cold plunges, posing rooms, and specialty equipment.

You may not have a chance to win a free year like Martinez but staff at the gym say you can still take advantage of a day pass, without waiting 24 hours, at the gym at the Fig Garden Loop area of Fresno.
