    Pedestrian critical after being hit in Fresno, police say

    FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A person is now in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle at a Fresno intersection, the Fresno Police Department said.

    Officers say they responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision in the area of Shaw and Valentine Avenues at around 10:30 a.m.

    Police say a vehicle was traveling east on Shaw Avenue in the second lane and had a green light when a pedestrian walked out into the street within the crosswalk. The driver was unable to stop or swerve and struck the pedestrian.

    According to investigators, the driver remained on scene and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical but is in stable condition.
