FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Three Valley Animal Center’s AC units inside their clinic are experiencing major disrepair.

The Valley Animal Center is calling for donations as animals are at risk without working AC units in their clinic.

“Without them being at 100% operation status, it really affects the way that we’re able to help our animals and also help our community clients as well,” Ruben Cantu, Animal Care Adoption Supervisor said.

The issue started when a blown motor in the AC unit caused smoke to blow through the vents of the building.

“With the issues at hand, that is a huge safety factor, not only for the animals in care, the staff that’s on-site, and again, our client animals as well, so it’s at this point something we have to get fully fixed and repaired,” Cantu said.

The good news is the animals inside the shelter are safe.

However, the clinic affected is crucial for sick animals who need the proper care.

“We have a tremendous amount of medications that are not only like light sensitive, but temperature sensitive. And so if they’re not kept between a very specific window of degree, they’re essentially expired at that point. They’re no good,” Cantu explained.

Although the medication was removed from the clinic, the center needs help so they can reopen the facility for the animals.

“There’s no amount too small or too great. Anything helps, even anything as low as a dollar or $5. It really does add up. If we had 60,000 clients or community members out there that could donate $1, that takes care of our problems and there’s definitely that many people in Fresno I know there’s that many animal lovers. It’s just a matter of reaching that audience and hoping that they’re available to help us out,” Cantu said.

Cantu says the best way to donate is through the Valley Animal Center website , in person or on social media.
