Seattle Police arrested a man for suspected carjacking and animal cruelty
Suspect charged with murder and animal cruelty in fatal carjacking of 80-year-old dog walker. King County prosecutors have filed charges against a man they say forced his way into a vehicle occupied by a beloved 80-year-old Seattle dog walker, pushed her out and ran over her before going to a park and stabbing her dog to death. Forty-eight-year-old Jahmed Kamal Haynes was charged Friday with first-degree murder, second-degree assault and first-degree animal cruelty. Prosecutors asked that he be held in the jail without bail due to his extensive violent criminal history and the judge agreed. Haynes is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 5.

I'll start off by saying this. Until proven wrong, I'm going to always assume that the Mariners aren't going to spend money on hitters, and will instead just work trades or sign small one-year deals. Whether this is the owner being cheap, hitters not wanting to come here because the batter's eye is crooked, or some combination, it just hasn't happened in the past for the Mariners.

Green groups' anger percolated this week after it was revealed that Brian Niccol, Starbucks' new CEO, will "supercommute" approximately 1,000 miles between one of his homes in California and the coffee giant's Seattle headquarters three times a week. A Starbucks spokesperson said earlier this week that "while Brian will have an office in Southern California, his primary office and a majority of his time will be spent in our Seattle Support Center." REI Co-op Plans to Move to 40,000 SQFT Space at Alderwood Parkway in Lynnwood
After more than two decades at the Alderwood mall, REI Co-op is packing its bags and moving to a larger space just a mile away, according to a report from the Puget Sound Business Journal. The Seattle-based outdoor retailer is set to take over a 40,000-square-foot space at the Alderwood Parkway shopping center, currently occupied by a Dick’s Sporting Goods outlet store.
