A trustworthy, go-to-resource for underserved Latinos, Casa San José (House of Joseph) was founded in 2013 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden. They were inspired to open a welcome center that would support the tireless work of Sister Janice Vanderneck, who’s cared for Pittsburgh Latinos for more than two decades. West Virginia needed to address defensive spots across the roster through the transfer portal and the program has accomplished that with some quality additions. In the secondary, Duquesne cornerback transfer Ayden Garnes is a player that the coaching staff got a good look at when they squared off against him this past fall when he recorded 4 tackles and had a pass breakup without allowing a reception in his coverage. That made him a priority when he entered into the portal.

Port of Baltimore expansion project to add $1.5 billion to Maryland GDP
(WBFF) — An upcoming addition to the Port of Baltimore will generate 8000 new jobs and add $1.5 billion to Maryland's GDP, the groups behind the project said today. Tradepoint Atlantic and Terminal Investment Limited released the results of an economic impact study showing that the Sparrows Point Container Terminal is projected to hit those economic benchmarks by 2035.

Brooks Hall elevator closures planned
The elevators in Brooks Hall will be closed and nonoperational from Monday (July 22) to July 26. This is a scheduled outage to replace damaged equipment. The work is not anticipated to extend beyond July 26. Brooks Hall will remain open as scheduled during this time. See summer building hours.
3 Evansdale trees to be removed Thursday
To ensure the safety of our campus community, three trees located on the Evansdale area of campus will be removed on Thursday (July 18) due to their declining health. Two of the trees are located in front of the Evansdale Greenhouse while the third tree is located between the Evansdale Library and the Advanced Engineering Research Building. All three trees slated for removal are in decline and have been deemed a potential risk to pedestrians in the area.

Allegheny County District Attorney's Office experiences limited communication due to cyberattack
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A cyberattack has impacted communications for the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office as of this morning. According to their website, their computer servers are shut down at this time. They also added that they have limited access to email and their desk phones are up and running, but they do not have voicemail capabilities. Anyone who has to contact the office can do so by calling one of two numbers: 412-915-6914 or 412-879-7548.
