OWEGO, NY (CortacaToday) — No serious injuries after a house fire in Owego, according to the Owego Fire Department. Deputy Chief Mike Hopkins was the first to arrive Thursday evening to the Williams Street house after a neighbor called 911 when they heard a smoke detector. Pennsylvania House Leader Wants Trump Shooting Investigated
A Pennsylvania Republican leader thinks the shooting at a Trump rally should be looked into. Pennsylvania House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler is introducing legislation to look into the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, in Butler. House Resolution 501 would form a House Select Committee to investigate the actions and response of state and local law enforcement following the assassination attempt. The bipartisan committee would then produce a report on the incident no later than November 30th. Cutler says the committee will not be looking to assign blame, but rather it seeks to discover how law enforcement can better improve practices going forward.
Binghamton homeowners can get up to $40,000 to repair their house

Owego resident rescued from fire on William Street
One resident was rescued and his home was damaged by a fire in the Village of Owego last Thursday. According to the Owego Fire Department, a neighbor called in the fire on William Street at around 6:45 p.m. on July 18th. Owego Deputy Fire Chief Mike Hopkins arrived on the scene and requested a second alarm for a working structure fire. He was informed by a neighbor that one person was still inside the home.
