One of largest ever federal grants for an Alabama project announced for $3.5 billion bridge project
One of the largest federal grants ever received for an Alabama project will boost efforts to construct a $3.5 billion bridge across Mobile Bay. The $550 million grant, announced by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, is the largest ever for a project in the state and marks a critical milestone in the longstanding effort to build a new Interstate 10 bridge and Bayway, now known as the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project.

An officer responding to a possible drug overdose in the 300 block of Beck Street around 8 a.m. Sunday was told that an unconscious person drank a mixture of GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) and embalming fluid, commonly known as “scoot,” according to the Atmore Police Department.
